Our Mission
In the name of Jesus Christ:

To help persons of the area who have temporary emergency needs through resources collected locally.

To work with other social agencies such as the Salvation Army and Red Cross in order to avoid duplication of aid.

To refer, where possible, to another appropriate agency for needs that cannot be met by Loaves and Fishes.
Our Organization
The Durand Area Loaves and Fishes Emergency Food Bank was organized in December of 1992. It is incorporated as a 501C-3 non-profit organization, over seen by the Durand Ministerial Association. The member volunteers work to: 1) Organize food and fund drives; 2) Set policy; and 3) Acknowledge gifts.
Our History
The Durand Area Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry grew out of the Durand Community Council, which was started in 1957 to assist persons in need. In the fall of 1982, the Ministerial Association decided to organize an emergency services group, now named Durand Area Loves and Fishes Food Pantry. The pantry is operated 100% by volunteers who generously donate their time, energy and talents each week to help keep the pantry running smoothly. The Loaves and Fishes' current food distribution center is located off the back parking lot of the Vernon Methodist Church on Main Street in Vernon, MI.
